TCIC Kids - Home Economics Workshop
The goal of the program is to empower the children in our community to develop skills essential for everyday life and boost their self esteem and independence. This program is designed for ages 10 + (for both brave boys and keen girls). Each workshop will accommodate 15 students, and will begin Sunday, July 6th and end Sunday, August 11th, from 10am to 12pm. There is a $10 material fee per student, per class.
The program aim's to teach children basic home economics with the Islamic approach to everyday life. The topics we will cover are:

Selfcare (personal hygiene and clothing, proper wodu, eating etiquettes, waking up and sleeping routine, entering/leaving the house)

Easy healthy meal preparation (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, learn about kitchen tools, no waste, set up and clean up, washing dishes)

Repairs around the house (wires, bulbs, recycling and reusing, batteries, broken or chipped items, ripped hose, basic repair tools)

Money management (saving, zakat, sadaqa, bargain shopping, avoiding waste, needs vs wants, other way to spend less money by reusing and fixing items, avoiding temptation).

Basic sewing (buttons, clasps, hooks, sizing, and adjusting pants, sleeves, dresses, hijabs, hats, socks, knee holes)

Crocheting (make your own hat, scarf, slippers, purse, hair band)
